Setting and approving the school budget is one of the three roles of School Committee (along with setting policy and hiring/firing the superintendent). For those residents that don't have students in our schools, it is the often the way that the schools impact them most, at least in the short term.
My goal is not to cut the school budget. My goal is to ensure that Weston gets the best value for the money we spend and that we spend on areas that drive the results we want. Using my business and financial skills to break down our budget, and the budgets of comparable districts, and then communicate that clearly is one way that I want to put my experience to work for Weston.
